Learn something new, everyday
Under the category of "learn something new everyday":
I figured something out about my desk chair today during a conference call.
And this time I remembered to mute the phone before applying an indiscriminate amount of force using a five-pound rubber mallet.
So, now the question is, what do I do about it? Can I "fix" it, or should I just replace the chair?
Seems I have been burning through those under the chair floor matsat an alarming rate. Just threw one out this last weekend and I still have to replace it.
Turns out that the char I have, the tube that connects the seat to the base has some how managed to work it's way down to the level of the wheels. This means that every time I sit down on the thing, it jams into the floor beneath me, putting all of my body weight (possibly accellerated by the act of sitting) onto a circle about 2 inches in diameter.
And here I thought it was the wheels.
And, for the record, the mallet did not accomplish anything that I had hoped it would. But at least I didn't break the chair.
This time.
